Nyan Cat

Nyan Cat

Nyan cat is everywhere now, even in the show. But do not fear - I am not hacked (although skinny white boys are always trying to get past my firewall...). This image is the concept-in-motion of J.R. Barker. Check out the site for a view of his back cover.

Tonight's show comes in two parts, much like a forlorn lover with a chainsaw. The first part - Nyan Cat is mostly recent electro and house (with some exceptions). The second part - Tac Nayn is the evil twin; all italo and boogie.

12s + SMD

Woof, Roar, Raaaaaw! The time is almost here for a very exciting weekend in NYC, with both the Twelves and Simian Mobile Disco coming to perform. (Although SMD will make only a DJ set, and not live synth playing)

I am most pumped, and therefore have made a set with much Twelves and Simian Mobile Disco. Also, there is other great music! I am sure you will enjoy this one. Ausgezeichnet!

12s + SMD (Ausgezeichnet! 07/30/11)

As a bonus, I will include a link to two fantastic shows, The Twelves for their essential mix (perhaps my favorite DJ set of all time!) and Simian Mobile Disco for their live in Japan performance.

Crash!

Ooooh that was rough! Perhaps it is best not to drink and drive.

This set, oh yes. Very nice. We have a little boogie, a little electro, and some 90's house music complete with the over use of synth-organs and soulful black female singers. You could ask for nothing more... OK, fine, we will end with Daft Punk!

Air-Intake Manifold

Wow, look at those vents. And the rotors! I haven't seen a girl with a flux-capacitor like that in years. That it my type of woman!

And this will be your type of show. It is like an electronic sensation, all over your body. Roar!

Männlich Stadt!

When Otto and Studebaker perform together on Macho City, it is only appropriate that we go to German.

Männlich Stadt!

In this set, Studebaker Hawk spins the first 45 minutes of each hour, pumping us up so hard - only to have release as I end the set with some italo disco. Also, there is much silly banter. Enjoy!

Spaced-out Boogie

Spaced out radio

My good friend, Thorian Maxwell has invited me once again onto his program. It is now the hot summer, and I am feeling the boogie, the sweat, the hot-blood disco funk. And now I will give that to you.

I introduce the music as boogie, although I must admit much does not in that category fit. I can not stick to one genre or one love - You must strap me down in handcuffs!  Enjoy!

Don't Call Us Queens

We may like to dance, but do not call us names!

In this episode, a very stimulating guest set by none other than United Queendom. They mix a wide variety of songs, but always with energy and vigor. Listen - I command it!

I start and end the show, with the true meat handled by UK.

Lost in Space

It has been a long time. Too long, and for that I must apologize. I will not make excuses but instead to provide many gifts of music for your pleasure.

In this episode, I begin with Italo and end with Electro, broken into two separate sets. When this music was fresh on the airwaves, it was the sandwich surrounding a very juicy set of deep house and space disco composed by Etienne. Ooh, I wanna sandwizz! Unfortunately, due to a bad CD or hardware malfunction, that set is lost in space, and never to return. This brings me much displeasure.

Hey chica, do you wanna listen?
                                                             ...OK.

Italo Nights

Tonight I present to you a mix which will grip you (firmly) and draw you back through time and space. It is Italo Nights. After the Italo-Style party of last fall, I have much desired to spin more of this 80's beauty. This mix is short, sweet, and full of hits.

Enjoy!

Dimitri is not from Paris

I like to drive - HARD.
But sometimes I drive too hard. I loose control and I need someone else to take the wheel.
Tonight I was in the calm, capable hands of Dimitri. Enjoy his set - it encompasses the second half of the show. Dimitri will soon be a regular DJ on WMUA, so pay attention!

Space Triangle

Friday nights we are back!
You are soon to find yourself caught in a bizarre love triangle... In outer space! This triangle is composed of you, me, and Electro music. And perhaps several others... Now a love polygon? How bizarre!

City Speaks

Tonight is a party! And every other night from now on. This is because you can now download last week's mix. A set so hard and so fast that the city has been left in ruins. But now this city rises once more from its slumber and speaks: "I want MORE"!

Ultra! Bonus Round

I would like to present to you: Ultra! Bonus Round
It is a compact mix, with a length of only 32 minutes. But I will compensate for it's small size by doing it "just right". It is a quickie, fast and hard. I may not go all-night-long, but I am sure that you will be coming back for more!

This mix was an experiment in the use of a new DJ strategy I developed over the break. I welcome your thoughts on the product.

Separately, there was a complication in the recording of last night's program (1/08/11) and I have not in hand a copy for you. I may be able to recover some in the future, and it will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

New Year - New Tron

In visual perspective, I am more pleased by "old Tron". But I am constantly searching for the new. This week's program was a mix of old and new, the result of which I am most satisfied. The DJ DLG lazor legacy remix of Daft Punk's "Fall" from the new Tron soundtrack is a key component. Massive sound! Also Jackson and his computer band provide us with a remix of treasure fingers' "Keep up" which is a surprise so pleasant.

Boney M is featured on the mix this week as well. The frontman, Bobby Farrell has this past week died, and so I bring you a small sample of his songs, one of which was very popular in remix form this  past year. Perhaps you will discover in the set.

Listener beware - The start of the set is corrupted by hardware that is kaput. But fear not, the issue is solved just minutes into the show.

This year has begun with a big bang:

Xmas Lights

I am not a person to encourage a religion on another. You could say I am a bit of a nihilist. But I will use any excuse for a party. Because my show was on Xmas this year, and because a few artists gave me their holiday themed songs to play on the show, I created a special program. The first 10 minutes are chip tunes by doctor Octoroc and the show ends with "Christmas Wish" by David Z. Enjoy!

Escape!

These phallic missiles are a visual manifestation of my emotion. This set was recorded at the end of a very difficult semester, and while I may sound exhausted, the feeling is actually relief.

The program features many new tracks of which I am very excited! Can you find them?

Missing Component

Tonight I have only one half of a program from last year. The second half was consumed by a very naughty CD-player, which I was forced to dismember.
